Experience U-Pick chestnut season in the peaceful seclusion of our family farm in Southeast Iowa. This hands-on experience is a chance to slow down, enjoy our beautiful orchards, and take part in the harvest firsthand. Whether you’re starting a new tradition or carrying on one that’s been in your family for generations, we’re honored to share this special season with you. It’s family-friendly, meaningful, and a whole lot of fun.
GENERAL INFO

Season Dates: Our season is expected to begin mid-September and run through mid- to late-October, depending on the weather and how quickly the nuts drop.

Picking Hours: Picking hours will be 1:00 PM through dusk — these are the hours when most chestnuts drop to the ground.

By Reservation Only:To provide a great experience for every guest and ensure we can accommodate your group, all U-Pick visits must be reserved in advance. Reservations require a $50 deposit, which is credited toward your harvest total and also fulfills the $50 minimum harvest requirement per group. Refunds will be issued if severe weather (not just rain) prevents picking or if we determine there aren’t enough nuts available. Deposits are non-refundable for no-shows or cancellations made less than 48 hours before your reservation.

Weekday Pricing (Mon–Fri): $4.00/pound

Weekend Pricing (Sat–Sun): $4.50/pound

Bonus: If your group is picking up and buying more than 100 pounds in a single visit, you’ll receive a $0.25 cent discount per pound.
WHAT TO BRING

Chestnut burrs are very prickly and will by lying on the ground, so be sure to wear closed-toe shoes. Burrs could also be falling from the trees, so we strongly recommend hats for safety.

Bug spray, sunscreen, and drinking water are helpful, especially on warm afternoons.
WHAT TO EXPECT

When you arrive, we’ll welcome you and lead you to your assigned orchard (you can follow in your vehicle). Assigning spots ensures that every group has access to quality nuts and a relaxed experience. Groups are asked to stay in their designated areas so the harvest is fair for all pickers.

We’ll supply nut wizards, buckets, and carts to make harvesting easier. We'll also provide mesh bags for you to take home your chestnut harvest!

There will be a port-a-potty and handwashing station near the check-in area. Each orchard will also have a picnic table for your enjoyment!

Children are welcome to participate in the chestnut harvesting, but no pets in the orchards, please.
