CHICAGO CHESTNUT TRADITIONS
If you know Chicago, you know street vendors have long been part of the city’s character. That history stretches back to the 1800s, when immigrant peddlers sold food and goods along busy trolley routes and throughout the neighborhoods. By the early 1900s, street vending was a familiar part of daily life, with places like Maxwell Street becoming especially well known.

Chestnuts were part of that story, too, with vendors working Chicago streets with chestnut roasters and holiday shoppers stopping at downtown stands for hot roasted chestnuts.
We’re proud to ship fresh chestnuts to Chicago and, in a small way, carry forward a tradition that has been part of the city for generations.​
