BOSTON CHESTNUT TRADITIONS
Roasted chestnuts have a special connection to Boston’s holiday history. Songwriter Bob Wells, who grew up in Boston, later recalled the street vendors who sold hot roasted chestnuts in paper cones during the Christmas season. That childhood memory helped inspire the opening image of The Christmas Song, which Wells later wrote with Mel Tormé in 1945.
For generations, roasted chestnuts have been part of the sights, smells, and flavors of winter in American cities. It’s a tradition we’re glad to help keep alive by growing and shipping fresh chestnuts to customers in Boston and throughout Massachusetts.
